Cost and Requirements for a portrait

• The portrait will be 8" x 10" and I create it digitally on my computer. The largest size or rather paper that I have it printed is 24"wide...and as long as you want it to be. It costs about $15 a square foot. It is a very nice watercolor paper.
• Currently I charge $70 for a 8"x10" portrait (which includes the printing and shipping). This is for a single pet. If there are multiple pets in the portrait, add $15 for each additional pet. It usually take about 2-3 weeks to complete or longer if many pets are involved.
 • Payment must be made at the beginning of the portrait. It can be made by check or money order. I have not set up a Paypal account so I can't do credit card orders. If you are not completely satisfied, I will refund your money.
 • I will need a photo of your pet...one that you like and is your favorite. It can be a digital file or a regular photo. If it's digital, please do not send me anything taken on your phone. The file will be too small for me to work with. It must be at least 150kb. The usual camera phone photo is about 72kb.
Sometimes I will ask for a photo of the owner of the pet--esp. if they are best buddies and will incorporate that person into the portrait...subtly. (See Rocky in my blog...examples)
You can e-mail the digital file to petsbykat@comcast.net. If you have a printed photo (which will be returned), please e-mail me and I will give you my address.
• Tell me something about your pet...like his/her name; what does it like to do; is there anything funny or special that it does; general temperament. The more information I have the easier it is for me to visualize your pet and portray it's personality in the portrait. If needed I will e-mail you to ask questions etc. and it's perfectly fine for you to e-mail me on the progress etc. or if you have more interesting tidbits of information.
• Once completed you can request for the file. I can put it on a disk or just e-mail it you. I usually send the printed portrait through regular mail.

Walks through the park

For my daily exercise, I've been taking walks through Hidden Lakes Park...a great place for exercise, wild flowers, and enjoying the beauty of nature. Doing so, I have met many dog owners and their "kids". There's Paula and Jo-Jo, Robin and Max, Lourdes and Annie,  Meadow and her owner (didn't get her name) but she's a sweet Golden Retriever from the same breeder as Koa and Sally and Daisy. Today I met Ricardo and Lulu on our hill walking home. Some of the ladies mentioned have formed friendships but it's just a great camaraderie of dog owners.

It's spring in the park and there's so many birds, I was startled by a huge beautiful Blue Heron while rounding a corner on the trail. It took off before I could get a photo of it.  I watched it a bit but was too far away to take any good photos.

My acrylic holder finally arrived yesterday so I'll be taking them to various places where I can advertise my art.
